In it the narrative is taken up immediately at the close of "The Count of Monte-Cristo," and continued in a style of exceeding cleverness. Maximilian Morrel arrives first, followed by the Danglars, accompanied, as always, by Lucien Debray. It has wonderful fascination, absorbing interest and rare merit, combined with remarkable power, amazing ingenuity and thorough originality.
